Thomas Kinkade "CARMEL: Delores Street and the Tuck Box Tea Room" #788 of 980 S/N Edition Canvas Print in Kinkade Frame
"Delores Street" was an early street scene of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, the location of Kinkade's first studio. That small studio today is still a Kinkade gallery offering his work. The particular piece offered here was originally purchased from the Kinkade Country Club Plaza gallery by a collector in Kansas City. It was traded back to the gallery for a different piece and the current owner, a Wichita collector, acquired it from the same gallery owner. These prints were produced in the US by Kinkade's own company, Lightpost Publishing.
This canvas is number S/N 788 of 980 produced. A total of only 1,480 canvases were printed in four editions (S/N, A/P, R/P, and P/P) for distribution worldwide. The same number of prints were produced on archival paper. The paper editions carry considerably less value than the canvas prints. There have been additional open edition prints made, but none on museum quality cotton canvas. The canvas is framed in a standard Kinkade platinum frame. The frame is in excellent condition showing a little patina. The owners have the original Certificate of Limitation and Authenticity.
The original 20" x 24" "Delores Street After a Rain" canvas as authenticated by the Kinkade family, is currently being offered at $175,000 by a dealer in South Carolina. Very few Kinkades are in private collections. Most are owned and housed by the Kinkade estate in Monterey, California.
